Trackdays.ie #TD18 Mondello Park Track Day Image Gallery. Sunday 16th December 2018
#TD18 was our final trackday of 2018 and our 18th event since we launched back in November 2016. That feels like a long time ago now! A lot of changes have happened in the last 2 and a bit years but our passion and excitement for trackdays has stayed the same.
I think part of the enjoyment comes from the anticipation of what interesting cars will show up at the next event. #TD18 didnt disappoint in that regard. The 2 stars of the show couldn't have been more different, one being a brand new McLaren 650s and the other a Fiat Fiorino van with full Abarth running gear and interior! (you have no idea how much I want to add this van to the fleet! Colin Clinton, if you're reading this....we should talk!)
There were plenty of other cars that caught my eye too, some i'd never seen before and some old regulars. Barry Travers new Focus RS rally car is a stunning piece of kit and managed to go under the radar for much of the day with what looked like additional silencers poking purposefully out from the rear diffuser.
Eoin Farrelly's supercharged mk2 mx5 certainly doesn' fly under the radar. Eoin is a regular at trackdays.ie events and despite the understated looks of the car, whatever way the supercharger is set up, it's twice as loud as any other blown mx and sound more like a world war 2 Messershmitt fighter!
As well as the great selection of cars, one of the best bits about trackdays is basically getting to hang out with your mates for the day! We get to meet loads of old friends as well as making plenty of new ones. We were delighted to have Neil, Flip and Reuben from Juicebox join us at the last day in their new ek Civic track car. If you're not familiar with what they do, go check out their Youtube channel - it's full of car stuff and general nonsense!
Finally..... myself, Stephen, Vicki, Kev, Noel and all of the Trackdays.ie team want to take this opportunity to say thank you for your support over the last 2 years, some of you guys (and girls) are at nearly every one of our trackdays and we really do appreciate it.
2019 is going to be an interesting and exciting year. We're running 5 trackdays at Mondello but are branching out to further afield so that we can bring YOU the variety that has been missing in Ireland since....well, forever! We're currently working on events at Bishopscourt, Tynagh, Kirkistown and Anglesea. We're also looking at the possibility of a Ring trip as well as some more local road runs, cars and coffee and dyno days. See you next year!
