Niall Maher is one of our trackday.ie rookies who brought his beloved MX5 out to our last track day back in July. He was immediately hooked and signed up for our next event on the 4th of September.
Virtual Reality Racing
While Niall might be new to the track days, he is no stranger to Motorsport and has been helping his brother Keith to build world class simulators for over a decade. Keith is the founder and CEO of VR Motion, a leader in developing world-class, full immersion virtual reality race training simulators.
VR Motion has successfully trained professional and semi-professional racing drivers with impressive results. In 2015 they helped pro drivers to train for the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb with great success, winning the Unlimited Class and the prestigious Rookie of the Year award in his very first ascent up the very tricky mountain course. Since then they have been busy building and developing state of the art Virtual Reality simulators to help drivers win races.
Niall has kindly offered to bring along his own personal racing simulator to allow trackdays.ie racers to experience a fully immersive VR simulator that provides a combination of visual, audio, and physical sensations.
Get Your Next Track Day For Free!
We plan to run 2 heats on the 4th of September, with each driver getting a chance to drive a Porsche 911 GT3 around the famous Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps. Each Trackdays.ie driver will get one chance on the simulator in the morning, and a final chance after lunch to try their luck through Eau Rogue. The simulator will be set up above the pit garages in the Grand Prix Suite and is completely free of charge.
The rules are fairly simple: one out lap and one flying lap. The prize for the fastest time will be a full track day at our next event on Saturday 21st October.
